Abstract: A review on the measurement research of the moment of inertia is carried out. The principles of some current measurement methods of the moment of inertia, such as the trilinear pendulum method, the torsion pendulum method and the falling body method, are summarized as well as their advantages and disadvantages. A new method aimed at these disadvantages is introduced, which is prospected to be a development direction for the measurement of the moment of inertia.
