Abstract: In order to meet the largerange requirements of the feedback measuring units in a feedback system within a limited mounting space, a highprecision linear variable differential transformer(LVDT)sensor with large measuring range ratio was designed. The principle and structure of the LVDT sensor were illustrated and the coil winding method of the existing LVDT sensor which was systematically analyzed. And then, a new method of coil winding was proposed. Compared with the conventional LVDT sensor, this method had a greater measuring range without increasing the geometric size, which enables the effective measuring length to be 70% of the measuring rod. Finally, the test proved that this new product satisfized the measurement of large measuring range ratio with the linearity as high as 0.6%.
